Media Creation

Video

Shoot Video

The Media Commons has a range of equipment that can be used for shooting video. Whether you’re looking to film the next Oscar winning documentary, want to film an interview and make use of green screen technology, or simply document a class project on film, we have the equipment you might need. Prior training will be required before using the equipment in Studio B. Please contact Colin Kelley for further information.

Edit Video

Once you’ve captured your raw footage you’re going to want to edit it to create your narrative. The Media Commons has a dedicated edit suite (Studio A) equipped with a high end desktop computer running a variety of video related software. Prior training will be required before using the equipment in Studio B. Please contact Colin Kelley for further information.

Audio

Record Audio

The Media Commons is the ideal location to record audio tracks for assignments and projects. Make use of the Whisper Room in Studio A to soundproof your audio source whilst using quality microphones and professional quality audio interface. Maybe you need a voiceover for a video project, or you are creating a translation in a foreign language. Studios A and B have the equipment you need. Prior training will be required before using the equipment in Studio B. Please contact Paul Benham for further information.

Edit Audio

Once you’ve captured your audio you’re going to want to edit it to ensure it is ready for your assignment or presentation. The Media Commons has a dedicated edit suite (Studio A) equipped with a high end desktop computer running digital audio workstation software. Prior training will be required before using the equipment in Studio B. Please contact Paul Benham for further information.

Photography

Take Photographs

The Media Commons offers a controlled space for photography within Studio B. You can set up lighting to bring out the best in your shots or just find a quiet space with a dedicated shooting table. Edit Photographs

Once you’ve taken your photographs you might find yourself needing to edit them. With today’s state of the art software you can accomplish anything from simple cropping to heavy image manipulation. Animation and 3D

Format Transfer

Do you have field work or office copies in a legacy format such as VHS? Cassette? Media Commons staff can assist with the conversion of many analog and early digital formats. Please contact Carmen Greenlee for an assessment of your needs and for answers to your copyright compliance questions.
