Off-campus Access to Databases

Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff may connect to the majority of library database resources from home or elsewhere by using their e-mail username and password when prompted. No special browser settings are needed.

To use library resources from off campus it is important that you:

• access the resource through the library's web site - either through the list of databases or through Compass; this ensures that you are properly identified by the resource as a Bowdoin user;
• don't access the resource directly from an email, bookmark, or search engine; instead, once you have the name of the resource, find it either through the list of databases or through Compass

If you are not a member of the Bowdoin College community, you are welcome to use our databases from inside the Library. If you are a resident of the State of Maine you also have access to a number of free databases via the Digital Maine Library.
