Biographical Note:

The Bowdoin College Swimming Program started with the completion of the Curtis Pool in January 1928. The first season consisted of only interclass and interfraternity meets as well as one outside meet with the Augusta YMCA. The original team was coached by Donovan D. Lancaster, later director of the Moulton Union. The team began competing in intercollegiate meets in the 1928-29 season. By 1930 the team was competing in regional and national meets including NEISA and NCAA.

Scope and Content:
Records of the Bowdoin College Swimming Program. Collection includes meet results for interfraternity, regional and national competitions. Complete records of the 1986 NEWISDA competition held at Bowdoin. Some subject files of coach Robert Miller are also included, correspondence, etc. Majority of photos are team photographs but some action and awards photos are also included.
