His son Erastus (1821-1893) was graduated from Bowdoin in 1843 and was an overseer of the College, 1856-1866. The collection was donated by Mrs. Rufus Stetson, descendant of George Stetson, who was involved in the shipping industry in Wiscasset in the 1880s.
