Lorenzo Horn was born in 1880 near Kulmbach, Germany. He was Sergeant and Cavalryman of the Landespolizei of German South-West Africa from ca. 1902-1915; in 1915 Horn was interned after the surrender of the Gibeon Security Guard during World War 1. After the war he lived in Germany with his wife and family. He died in 1956 in Simmelsdorf, Huttenbach, Germany.

Includes ca. 153 photos depicting ship's crossing to German South-West Africa on the Admiral (Woermann Line); indigenous people; groups of men in uniform, some on horseback; scenery, possibly around Gelwater Police Station, Gibeon, where Horn was stationed; social activities; and building exteriors and interiors.
