Born in Iowa in 1894, Hubert H. Hoeltje obtained his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees from the State University of Iowa. He married Pauline M. Bushnell in 1920. Later in life, Hoeltje became an English professor who studied New England authors. He died in 1968.
Contains a handwritten manuscript of "Inward Sky: The Mind and Heart of Nathaniel Hawthorne," an in depth look at the life of Hawthorne.
