The George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives, like all archives and special collections libraries, is the creation of human beings who have collected, organized, and described things in ways that reflect personal, cultural, societal, and institutional biases. The Student Activities Office has been an integral part of student life for many decades at Bowdoin. Its primary goals are to provide students with social, cultural, and educational experiences outside the classroom; facilitate leadership development within organizations; and to provide recourses for student events. An activities fair is also coordinated every year during the fall semester to introduce each incoming class to the opportunities at the College.
