The George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives, like all archives and special collections libraries, is the creation of human beings who have collected, organized, and described things in ways that reflect personal, cultural, societal, and institutional biases. The English Department offers an interdisciplinary approach to learning about the English language and literature. Topics on historical periods, culture, and the environment are integrated into the curriculum as opportunities to study how the English language has transformed through the centuries.
