Reserves - Linking to Video Services

Each vendor will have a way to make a permanent link to its videos — three examples follow below.

Films On Demand

At the bottom of every Films On Demand video page you will find a box containing the persistent URL to that video:

Films on Demand full title link

Be sure that when you copy the URL you select the whole thing - the URLs are generally longer than the box itself. A Films on Demand URL will look something like this:

https://login.ezproxy.bowdoin.edu/login?url=http://digital.films.com/PortalPlaylists.aspx?aid=14307&xtid=43384

For a segment of a Films On Demand title, the process is the same. Go to the web page for the video you want to link. Choose the particular segment you are interested in by clicking on it in the 'Segments' menu on the right of page. Now, at the bottom of the page, the link box should be labeled "Segment URL:"

A segment URL has an extra bit of information tacked on to the end. Again, be sure to select the whole contents of the link box.

BBC Shakespeare

In the BBC Shakespeare collection, choose the play or scene to which you want to link.

The video will open in a new window. At the bottom of the page in that new window, below the video you should find the persistent URL that will allow you to link straight to that play or scene.

YouTube

To link to a YouTube video, browse to the YouTube page for the video. Click on the 'Share' button that should be immediately under the video. A box will open with the stable URL to that video.
