Musset, Alfred de, 1810-1857
Bound, and signed, by Charles Meunier in blue levant with a conventional daisy-design border, inlaid with olive and citron, on the front and back covers and on the spine. The doublure of mauve morocco has a fleur-de-lis inlay; the lining is of blue watered silk; and the end papers are marbled. All edges are gilt. The book's original cream colored pictorial wrappers are bound in.
An unnumbered copy of the 20 that were printed on Japan paper.
Each plate is in four states with the exception of that facing page 98, which is in five. One plate bears a pencil note by Octave Uzanne stating that 300 francs was paid E. Abot for the "termination" of that plate.
Bound by Charles Meunier in blue levant, with citron, green, purple and rose levant inlaid in an elaborate floral and fan design on the front cover; simpler, but complimentary, designs are inlaid on the back cover and spine. Lettered in gold. Another floral and fan design borders the inside of the covers around a brocade doublure. With a matching brocade lining, gilt edges, and a slip case.
