Q. What is your favorite book?
A.  It’d have to be something by John le Carré or John Irving.  I’ll go with Hotel New Hampshire by Irving, although A Perfect Spy by le Carré runs a close second!

A. That’s easy – Bowdoin Dining Services.

Q. What is your favorite restaurant/store/place in Brunswick?
A. Maquoit Point

Q. What is your favorite book?
A. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

Q. What has been a favorite research project at Bowdoin?
A. Studying the phylogenic history of bears (including the polar bear!)

Q. What is your favorite study space in the library?
A. Lower floor of Hatch Science Library.

We extend hours for Reading Period and Exam Week. But thankfully, that’s months away!

Q. What is your favorite book?
A. It’s a tie between Halldor Laxness’ Independent People and Annie Dillard’s Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.  Good reads, both!

Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
A. One of the biggest perks of working in Interlibrary Loan is getting to see all the neat (and sometimes obscure) materials being borrowed for our patrons’ research.  I love that I have the opportunity to chat with students and faculty about their research projects, and learn about interesting topics that I might not have even considered otherwise.

Q. What is your favorite restaurant/store/place in Brunswick?
A.  The Frontier Café – it’s a great place to eat, relax, and watch the river roll by.

Hatch Science Library

The Bowdoin College Library is not just one building!  The BCL includes the Hawthorne-Longfellow Library, which is the main library, and the four branch libraries: the Art, Music, and Science libraries and the Language Media Center.  The George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives, named for Senator Mitchell, is housed in the Hawthorne-Longfellow Library. Together, all of these libraries make up the Bowdoin College Library.  Check ‘em out–they all have great collections and study spaces!

Q. What is your favorite book?
A. Henning Mankell’s Depths, a brooding book tempered by extraordinary literary skill.

Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
A. Leading students to the discovery of books as art and reading as a visual as well as a cognitive experience.

Q. What is your favorite restaurant/store/place in Brunswick?
A. Shere Punjab. Try the poori and the lamb curry.

Q. What is your favorite book?
A. Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. This book will kick your ass, but I guarantee you will come out on the other side a better person.

Q. What has been a favorite research project at Bowdoin?
A. My favorite research project at Bowdoin was for an archaeology seminar with Professor Ricciardi in the Classics Department. My project was about the city of Dura Europos (in modern Syria), and my research included extensive work with Bowdoin’s holdings along with a trip down to one of Boston College’s art museums.

Q. What is your favorite study space in the library?
A. The basement computer cluster! The perfect mix of productive atmosphere and social vitality.
