The Library is happy to announce the launch of a new web page designed to help students better understand the whys, whens and hows of citation. In the absence of a College style guide, and with the help of several faculty members and Kathleen O'Connor of the Writing Project, we have gathered links to sites that will help students understand why citing is essential and provide them with the tools they will need to create proper citations in a variety of formats.

We hope that this page will also be of value to faculty as they teach about citation, issues of academic honesty and the consequences of plagiarism. In the coming months we will add a chart listing each academic department, their citation format preferences (or a note to contact their faculty member when there is no department consensus) and related discipline-specific citation information.

We welcome your comments.
