Searching the Catalog

The following guidelines are intended to help you search the catalog for composers, scores, choral music, music manuscripts, and facsimiles.

Composers

Search under author and use the Limit/Sort option to further narrow the search by material type, year, or words in the title.

Scores and performance music

Search under composer or distinctive title and limit by material type. Alternatively, you can browse by genre by using one of the following subject searches:

Use the Limit/Sort option to further narrow the results of any search by Words in the Author (composer), Title, or Subject, by Language, by Year of publication, etc.

Music Library Videos

Limit your search to DVD/Videos. (This will find DVDs and VHS videos at all locations, not just the Music Library.)

Choral Music

A search for the alternate call number Choral retrieves a list of choral performance music.

CDs

For a complete list of CDs, search for the alternate call number CD, or qualify the search term by genre to further limit the search. Genres include:

LPs

Search for LPs by the alternate call number LP. Genres include only LP Ethno.
