How Do I…?
- Find books, articles and other library materials
- Locate items in the stacks
- Checkout & renew materials
- CLOSE
- Find a book that is missing or checked out
- CLOSE
- Bowdoin students, faculty and staff may request a checked-out or missing item from another library through NExpress, MaineCat or Interlibrary Loan.
- If you can’t find your book on the shelf but the status says “Available,” please ask for help at the Circulation Desk. Staff will help you look for the book; if we can’t find it, we’ll declare it “Missing” so you can place a NExpress or MaineCat request.
- Books requested through NExpress or MaineCat will be shipped to Bowdoin, usually within 2-4 days; this is faster than if we recall a checked-out Bowdoin book! However, the Library will recall a checked-out book for you if this seems to be the most appropriate way to obtain it for you; please ask at the Circulation Desk.

The public printers operate on a print-release system; “swipe” your Bowdoin ID to release printing. Guests: purchase a print card from the vending machine in the Basement of H-L or Hatch Science Library. All Library branches have public printer/photocopiers; H-L and Hatch each have a color printer/copier.
