Book Review Digest Plus
Book review citations from thousands of periodicals. Broad coverage of fiction, nonfiction, books for children, and reference works in the humanities, social sciences, and general sciences. Some full text is included.
Oxford Reference Online
Oxford Reference Online contains the full-text of over 100 selected language and subject Oxford University Press reference books. Combined into a single, cross-searchable database, these sources provide definitions, facts, figures, quotations, dates, and other brief information from subjects in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. The database is updated several times a year with new titles and new editions.
Xreferplus
Xreferplus is a full-text database that draws reference books from many well-known publishers and combines them into one, cross-referenced resource. It encompasses a wide variety of subjects such as art, health, literature, and politics. In addition to articles, xreferplus contains high-quality, searchable photographs, fine art, scientific diagrams, and other types of images. Over 76,000 audio pronunciation files also are included. New titles are added to xreferplus each year.
World Development Indicators
A statistical database that supports research needs in economics, government, sociology, and history, as well as other disciplines. It presents, in an easy-to-use format, data for over 200 countries and 18 country groups from 1960 to the present. Social, economic, financial, and environmental indicators are included; results can be exported in standard formats such as Microsoft Excel.
Social Services Abstracts
A bibliographic database covering social work, human services, social welfare, social policy, and community development. The database abstracts and indexes over 1,500 serial publications, dissertations, and citations to book reviews. Coverage starts in 1980; new records are added each month.
New Maine State Databases
ValueLine Research Center includes online access to ValueLine’s leading publications covering stocks, mutual funds, options and convertible securities as well as special situation stocks.
ProQuest Newspapers supplies full text of more than 500 U.S. and international news sources including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, and Times of London. Maine papers covered: Bangor Daily News (1992+); Portland Press Herald (1995+); selected business coverage from Maine Times (1994-2002); and Central Maine Morning Sentinel (1993-1997).
Wildlife and Ecology Studies Worldwide provides citations to the literature on mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians found in journals, conference proceedings, monographs, theses and dissertations, and government reports. The database includes Wildlife Review Abstracts, which was published through 1995 by the National Biological Service.
Nature, a leading international science journal, also is provided full text by the State of Maine.
