Using Naxos Music Databases
This page is to assist you if you are having difficulty accessing or playing music from the Naxos Databases. Be sure to check the system requirements.
- Naxos is designed for Internet Explorer on a PC, and is the preferred usage platform if possible.
- Naxos uses the windows media player. It must be installed on the PC or Mac on which you wish to use Naxos. If you are on a mac you may wish to use Flip4Mac instead.
- Pop-ups must be enabled for the Naxos site.
- On browsers other then I.E., when the service times out the user is returned to a login page. This can be quite confusing. The only way to log back into the service is to close the browser and then re-enter the service from the library pages.
- On a Mac some player functionality is missing in Firefox, use Safari if possible.
If you would like assistance configuring your machine to use Naxos, please contact the IT Helpdesk (x3030 for faculty/staff or email helpdesk@bowdoin.edu, x5050 for students or email itss@bowdoin.edu). For assistance searching and using the databases, contact the Library Reference Desk (x3227).
