New Circulation Policy in the Art Library
Art Library materials which are needed for more than a day, will now be checked out to students on an ‘in house use’ basis, for a loan period of one semester. This will make it easier for other students to borrow from NExpress institutions if they need to have a copy for their own use. Since this is an ‘in house use’ rule, we will still be able to locate books in any given student’s carrel in the library, so that we can continue the practice of sharing materials when necessary or desirable.
Faculty who need to use materials from the Art Library will now be checking them out formally, just as they do from other libraries on campus, for the same loan period, as long as the items are not needed for current art history classes, or reserves.
The librarian’s desk will act as the Circulation Desk, so please check things out and return them at that location.
Computers and Printers
There are 4 computers, 2 Macs and 2 PCs, and a copier/printer with a print-release station. If you are not a member of the college community you will need a copy card, purchased at the main library, to make copies or to print.
Reserves
Reserve readings for courses in the Art Department are shelved in an area close to the entrance of the library, and do not have a formal check-out system, but may not leave the library, and there is no time limit on using them. Common courtesy is the only rule. Materials from other libraries on campus can be used on our Reserves, and materials from the Art Library can be used for Reserves in the Main Library as well. Faculty need only to contact the Art Library to borrow materials for Reserves. We will see that they are delivered to Hawthorne Longfellow Library.
