The business records housed in Special Collections cover many types
of businesses: medical, retail stores, publishing, shipping, etc. Dating
from the late 18th through early 20th centuries, some runs last for
only a few months or years, others cover the lives of the businesses.
Some isolated, brief or fragmentary records too incomplete to be included
here can be found in various manuscript collections; for example, there
are unrelated 17th to 19th century receipts, notes and bills of lading
in the Howell Document Collection, and some brief information on the
founding of Florida's Ocala and Silver Springs Railroad in the Chamberlain
Collection. Consult collection guides or check
with the staff for more information.
This list will be updated as new items are discovered or accessioned.
