Annie Lawrence Edmands (1878-1977) was born in Newton, Massachusetts. She married Francis S. Dane (Bowdoin College 1896) in 1903.
Autograph album given to Edmands by her grandfather in 1879, a year after her birth. The album contains letters, poems, inscriptions, and signatures from prominent 19th-century figures, including Phillips Brooks, L. Maria Child, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sarah Orne Jewett, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (fair copy of the last three verses of his poem "Children"), Harriet Beecher Stowe, Adeline D.T. Whitney, and John Greenleaf Whittier. Also includes an autographed photograph of Phillips Brooks dated April 8, 1890.
