Records in this series were made in 1971 and 1972 to keep track of political contacts and supporters and contemporary political issues by state. Included are national campaign correspondence, itineraries, and briefing material concerning states, individuals, and interest groups. There is correspondence with Morris Udall, Mark Shields, and Warren Christopher, among others. Issues include wages and the environment but principally reveal the mechanics of mobilizing support for the candidate.
