- An electronic version of a Bowdoin College Library exhibit, showing
many of the fine bindings included in the Bliss Collection. In the early
1950s, Miss Bliss gave Bowdoin the collection begun by her father George
T. Bliss, a New York banker, and continued by herself. The 1,200 volumes
include bindings by many notable European binders of the late-19th and
early-20th centuries. The original exhibit and this on-line adaptation
were both prepared by Susan Ravdin, Special Collections Assistant.
- An electronic version of a Bowdoin College Library exhibit, part of
the Celebrating Harper symposium held at the College in October, 1996.
The symposium honored Michael S. Harper, one of America's premier poets
and poet laureate of Rhode Island, whose verse and other works reflect
his African-American heritage. The web site was prepared by the staff
of the John D. Rockefeller Library at Brown University, based on the
display and exhibition notes created by Susan Ravdin, former Special
Collections Assistant.
