Agency History / Biographical Note:
The Women's Resource Center (WRC) opened at 24 College Street in the fall of 1980. Initially started by students as a gathering place for women, and a center for the study of women's issues, it was run by the Bowdoin Women's Association, a student organization. In 1983, at the urging of the Bowdoin Women's Association, a College staff person was hired to direct the center. The WRC has continued to grow, coordinating with the Women's Studies Program, and providing information and programming that addresses gender issues.
Scope and Content:
Announcements of activities, flyers, handbooks, lists of Women's Resource Center library materials, and posters. There is also a folder of material from the Center's Committee to Celebrate 20 Years of Coeducation.
