Agency History / Biographical Note:
The 1993-1994 academic year marked the first time in which students could pursue either a major or minor in Women's Studies. (A minor was established in 1988, and previously students could self-design a major). Courses are interdisciplinary, and incorporate research done on women and gender. To reflect the focus on women and gender the name of the program changed from Women's Studies Program to Gender and Women's Studies Program effective with the 2005-2006 academic year.

Scope and Content:
Announcements of activities, posters, reports, and issues of WomeNews, a newsletter published by the Women's Studies Program and the Women's Resource Center. There are workshop and conference materials including those from the Maine Women's Studies Conferences, of which the 1990, 1991, and 2004 were hosted by Bowdoin.
