Hawthorne-Longfellow Library Facilities and Services
A Macintosh Computer Lab is on the basement level of Hawthorne-Longfellow. This lab is open throughout library hours.
The Electronic Classroom, also located on the basement level of Hawthorne-Longfellow, contains 25 Windows based computers. It is primarily used for library instruction and course-related computer training, but the computers are available for student use during normal library hours when the room is not reserved for instruction sessions.
A room reserved for course-related video viewing is found on the 3rd Floor of Hawthorne-Longfellow, at the back of the building. Individual VCR units with headphones are located adjacent to the Government Documents collection in the tunnel between Hawthorne-Longfellow Hall and Hubbard Hall and also in the Pierce Reading Room on the second floor.
The top floor of the Hubbard Hall Stacks houses the Hubbard Study Area. This room is designed for quiet individual study.
Just to your right as you enter Hawthorne-Longfellow is the Circulation Desk. The Reserve Desk is the section of the counter around the corner to the right. Both desks are staffed throughout library hours. Circulating material may be charged out and returned at these desks.
The Reference Desk is just opposite the entrance of the library. Librarians at this desk are available to help with library research, to offer instruction in library computer databases and print resources. For more information, including the Reference Desk schedule, see the Reference services page.
The Interlibrary Loan Department is dedicated to providing Bowdoin Students, Faculty and Staff members with access to library material not held in the Bowdoin College Libraries. The Department is located adjacent to the Reserve Desk.
